Endive is a member of the chicory family and is thought to have originated in Egypt or the Mediterranean. We’re not too bothered by where it comes from, because we know where it’s going – straight into our bellies.
The zest of this bi-colour blend provides a rad addition to salads during the cooler months. Their colour, texture and deliciously bitter flavour make Endive Chicory the king of leaves. (That’s totally a thing. We just made it up). Pick young, before the plant blooms, and you’re in for a treat.
Sow in early spring, late summer and autumn. Best as a cool-weather crop
Sow in full sun, space plants 20 x 30cm
Seeds will germinate in 7-14 days and grow to 15-20cm
Harvest in 20-30 days for baby leaf or 50 days for mature leaf
