SPECIFICATION FOR NON WATER RESERVOIR
CISTERN
Waterwise Cistern
The specification the Waterwise Cistern is required to meet:
A cistern that is not a water reservoir and fills on demand
The cistern must remain empty in its “resting” state. The cistern only fills
when the flush button is pushed and flushes automatically. Also utilising the
clean water that fills the cistern for hand washing.
Requirements
1. The push button needs to be raised above the cistern lid for easy activation for
people with weak fingers (kids and elderly).
2. The push button must be in a housing with splines/guides helping to locate it and
prevent sand and dirt jamming the button.
3. It must have an internal overflow through the centre outlet stem.
4. The flush can be adjusted to allow a flush of 4.5 litres to 9 litres.
5. The inlet valve must have no metal content to prevent lime scale build up and
corrosion. It must also be made of Acetal Copolymer(POM). This is the only
plastic material that is recognised in the manufacture of valves for domestic use.
6. The parts for the rocker arm and float arm must also be made of Acetyl
Copolymer to ensure they last. Other materials will wear to quickly.
7. The tank must be at least 300mm high to ensure a good flush.
8. The lid must have positive clips onto the tank and then must have split pins that
capture the lid onto the tank to prevent people fiddling with the mechanism.
9. A restrictor is supplied for very high pressure areas. This is put into the feed side
of the inlet valve.
10. The same restrictor can be used for low pressure areas. This is then put into the
outlet of the basin so more water flows into the basin for hand washing.
11. There must be a clip for the breather pipe to keep it out the way of the flushing
valve.
12. The breather pipe must not come loose if pulled intentionally or by mistake.
13. It must be locally manufactured to ensure spares are available.
14. The water flows from the inlet valve into a basin through a spout. The basin has
multiple drain holes to prevent it from overflowing.
15. The dimensions of the tank with lid on are 330mm(wide) x 380mm(high) x
150mm(depth)
16. The cistern must be in accordance to the specification
17. GD FITTINGS MENTO1 :2016 and carry the SATAS mark on the product
18. This cistern is ONLY for right hand installation. Inlet valve MUST stay on the
right. If the plumbing is on the left then it must be brought across to the right.
