Turpentine Mineral
Mineral Turpentine is a standard solvent and is used for cleaning brushes and as paint thinner for thinning oil based paints. Mineral turpentine is a cheaper option for students but if you are serious about your art leave the mineral turpentine to clean your brushes and use a better quality artists distilled turpentine or artists white spirits to thin your oil paint. Mineral turpentine can remove the glossy oily sheen associated with oil paint and your painting will appear to be dull and flat.
